Viva Venezia

Wow, would you look at this! Talk about Italian tile inspired!!!

This lovely book, by Christine Porter, is chock-filled with gorgeous quilts and it'll be a tough decision which to make FIRST.

To help resolve this dilemma, we are assembling a collection of batiks that are equally inspiring and makes the "executive decision" perhaps alittle easier. Creams, Greens, Golds, Browns andBlues... all very earthy and natural; as beautiful as Italy herself.

Layer Cakes

Weve been cutting groups of "layer cakes" based on collections we have in stock and they are proving very popular.
For those new to this, a layer cake is a set of 10" squares. In this case, our sets are 20- 10"squares of either our sophisticated "musical"
or the children's line of "animal".

Click on the photos for larger images.
At 10", these can be cut down to accommodate any "charm pack" quilt pattern.
Each sell for $14.99.

Basics of Paper Piecing

In our up-coming newsletter/calendar, you'll see we are once again offering a class in the very basics of paper piecing and Georgia has made samples of the blocks we will be sewing.
Deceptively simple, this block is made up of triangles and once you master this 6-piece block, "Boat", you'll be secure in your ablility to make more complicated blocks and actually enjoy doing it. It's all in the knowing HOW.
When the quilt itself is complete, we'll post a photo of it.

Not Your Grandmother's Log Cabin

No, it really isn't. This is a beautiful variation on the theme of Log Cabin, that ubiquitous of quilt blocks that everyone gets around to making at some point in their lives. Linda Kay has made a wall-size sample eith Nancy Halverson fabrics of just one of the 30+ projects from the book by Sara Nephew and Marci Baker. You have to see the vast selection that is in the book

Leslie will be teaching this class this next "semester" so watch for the calendar/newsletter coming soon to an Inbox near you! Her classes fill up fast.
